Free Google Phone for one more year

So, it looks like Google’s extending their offering of their phone service for another year. I thought they were done with it this past December when I believe there was a message that said “one more month of free calling to anywhere in the U.S.” or something like that using Google phone. Who knows the exact reasoning and I don’t have enough time to think about it, but hey, why not take advantage of it? I just tried it out last night calling from Seattle to my friend in Hawaii and we talked for literally 3 hours for free! I didn’t do it because I needed minutes, but I just didn’t want to a) worry about more possibility of brain cancer sticking my phone next to my head and b) could use the headset very comfortably and talk to him and his wife with ease. It was great!

If you haven’t used it before, basically log into your gmail account. Create a gmail account if you haven’t done that already. (There should be some cool affiliate gmail account program out there, but again, I don’t have time to take advantage of it right now. Ha, ha…) After logging in, look to your left hand side where there’s usually lots of features like your email folders and your contacts and tasks (all of this is customizable, btw. check out google’s blog on gmail.)

Just dial away! “Free calls to the U.S. and Canada or even abroad at insanely low rates” is what they’re advertising through the program. If you’re calling from India, which many of our fine readers are from, I’m not 100% sure on the details and so it would be best to check their site. I know they have a call rates comparison table here. They also have all their google phone rates here. Do a search on “google phone” or “google chat” and I’m sure you can find out more details if this isn’t enough.
