Jack Phone? Magic Call? What is it?
February 20, 2011
It’s “Magic Jack” idiot…this is what I’m thinking to myself after I remember finally what it is.
Why do I keep on trying to remember it? It’s because it’s such a steal. I’ve heard of the cheap phone call solution for a while now. It’s $19.95 a year or at least that’s what I’ve seen advertised. I just visited the cheap phone call website and they’re even offering it for free – rather a free trial right now. The date said by today (Feb 20, 2011). I think it might be programmed where it takes the date from your computer and says today is the last day; kind of savvy, don’t you think?
Anyway, regardless if it’s free or if it’s $19.95 for:
- free directory assistance
- free phone number
- free call waiting
- free voicemail
- and free caller id
for a full year, I would say that’s a steal! I’ve been doing everything I can to reduce my telecommunication expenses here in the past few years because I realized the companies who control cell phone networks and cellular phones can really take advantage of you and you don’t even know it. My cousin was trying to tell me to get an iPhone and I’m very tempted. However, I also know once I join, I’m going to have limited minutes, limited data, limited everything.
Instead, I use another service provider and it’s pay as you go. I pay actually for their $60/month service which gives me:u
- unlimited minutes
- unlimited data
- unlimited texts
but I think it limits me on directory assistance and things like that because recently I had to use “411″ and I couldn’t because I had nothing left in my account. There are other pains, but frankly, the convenience that AT&T or Sprint or all the major cell phone carriers give you usually equate to paying more money.
Inconvenience =’s cheap.
Convenience =’s more expensive.
It’s as simple as that. However, this Magic jack thing is very interesting and something I’m planning on trying. Like I said above, they said it’s free at this point…you can see here. Regardless, at $19.95 a year it’s ALMOST a FREE PHONE service! ;)
Feel free to write about your experiences as well here!
